I have been a cell phone fanatic for a long time. There were times in my life that it mattered more than others. Today I find the buzz of mobile telephony a recluse. I don't know why but I chose to work with people in everyday professional life. By day I am a mental health professional and by night I surf the web for new worlds to be yet discovered. Having a 3 year old, a family, and a job that calls to duty 24/7/365 is a bit of a challenge to find some free time, the me time. I try to steal the minutes of the day for myself and indulge in cyber silence, my world completely separate from my work, patients, clients, daily tribulations. I find that the more I explore the s60 platform the more I enjoy all that it has to offer. Initially a cell phone was just that, a phone that could be ported and scarcely used for calls due to its then outrageous rates. I have had a cell phone of one sort or another since 1993. My very first cell phone was of course a Motorola. I huge brick that died in hours. Could store numbers and not much else. It was all I needed since at the time I had long commute times from university to hospital, to other places like going home to sleep once in a while. It was not a perfect companion but it was a start. Today few good years later. I can safely say I can't live without my phone. My current phone and primary is a Nokia N95-3 and I don't know what I would do without my gadget by my side and on my bed stand at night. My daughter already knows that she is never to play with my phone as it is the tool I use for work. She is almost religious about relating this information to me at least once a week. I never leave home without two spare batteries, charger, bluetooth (currently plantronics voyager 520), connectivity cables for sync. When my daughter was born in the summer of 2004, I have been known to leave my phone at home, which for me is really not an option given the fact that I am on call 24/7 for my team as support. It was the first time in my life that I have experienced a true sense of sleep deprivation and what it can do to humans. I not only forgot my phone few times, and had to run back home and get it but also have worn one blue, one black sock or black and gray sock. Forgetting a watch which is also another staple became so routine I had to learn to rely on other sources to provide me with that information so I would not miss my meetings and appointments. I have come to love Nokia so much and depend on it for my everyday use that few months ago I also joined the s60 Ambassardor program. I am happy to say that people over at s60 are super nice and take the time to read my reports I submit, that is when time permits. It has been a great experience owning a device that people go crazy for and are true passionates of both the Nokia brand and technology behind the name. I hope to continue to learn more and more about s60 and its limitless world.
