So here we are eight weeks into the Widset Pet Ambassador campaign from Nokia. Yesterday I submitted a report of all my struggles and tribulations associated with this particular undertaking. I must say that all the stress, frustration and anger at that this campaign has caused me at times, has been ALL worth it. I set up a Facebook account, a widset pet application and I found that I have no friends to share this Facebook 'new land' with. Today I am happy to report that I have over two hundred friends and counting join me on Facebook. I have managed to set up my pet and have it adopted by few friends as well as adopting two pets myself. I am still not able to get the app running on my phone but hopefully it will soon get resolved....if not it's still not over till it's over. My report was named a report of the week and is published as such on consumed by s60 site, and I get to play with a new toy for few weeks as a result of that. I am loving the fact that I get to play with the newest gadgets coming out of Nokia and get to write about my experiences with them. For a total Nokia nut, there is no better experience to have. I have friends but few share my passion for the mobile world and for the latest and greatest gadgets in that world. As a result of having such a limited friend support in this arena, I decided months ago to look elsewhere for all kinds of opportunities as they relate to mobile technology of any kind. I found that Nokia's Ambassador program had opennings at the time and I decided to join. Making of this bloog and maintainig it on semi regular basis is also the result of my search for different outlets as they relate to my mobile and Nokia experience.
I have been a cell phone fanatic for a long time. There were times in my life that it mattered more than others. Today I find the buzz of mobile telephony a recluse. I don't know why but I chose to work with people in everyday professional life. By day I am a mental health professional and by night I surf the web for new worlds to be yet discovered. Having a 3 year old, a family, and a job that calls to duty 24/7/365 is a bit of a challenge to find some free time, the me time. I try to steal the minutes of the day for myself and indulge in cyber silence, my world completely separate from my work, patients, clients, daily tribulations. I find that the more I explore the s60 platform the more I enjoy all that it has to offer. Initially a cell phone was just that, a phone that could be ported and scarcely used for calls due to its then outrageous rates. I have had a cell phone of one sort or another since 1993. My very first cell phone was of course a Motorola. I huge brick that died in hours. Could store numbers and not much else. It was all I needed since at the time I had long commute times from university to hospital, to other places like going home to sleep once in a while. It was not a perfect companion but it was a start. Today few good years later. I can safely say I can't live without my phone. My current phone and primary is a Nokia N95-3 and I don't know what I would do without my gadget by my side and on my bed stand at night. My daughter already knows that she is never to play with my phone as it is the tool I use for work. She is almost religious about relating this information to me at least once a week. I never leave home without two spare batteries, charger, bluetooth (currently plantronics voyager 520), connectivity cables for sync. When my daughter was born in the summer of 2004, I have been known to leave my phone at home, which for me is really not an option given the fact that I am on call 24/7 for my team as support. It was the first time in my life that I have experienced a true sense of sleep deprivation and what it can do to humans. I not only forgot my phone few times, and had to run back home and get it but also have worn one blue, one black sock or black and gray sock. Forgetting a watch which is also another staple became so routine I had to learn to rely on other sources to provide me with that information so I would not miss my meetings and appointments. I have come to love Nokia so much and depend on it for my everyday use that few months ago I also joined the s60 Ambassardor program. I am happy to say that people over at s60 are super nice and take the time to read my reports I submit, that is when time permits. It has been a great experience owning a device that people go crazy for and are true passionates of both the Nokia brand and technology behind the name. I hope to continue to learn more and more about s60 and its limitless world.
