Today I decided to give Nokia email service another try. To my surprise, it downloaded, installed, set up, retrieved email, sync-ed all in under five mints. I am impressed. This task was never possible before with the numerous attempts I have been trying the service on my N95-3. Today it worked like a charm. Now I can't say that it will continue to work like a charm, however this is a good an promising beginning. I was going to give up on this service until much much later, but being who I am - I CAN"T. My fingers itch to find new things, try something again and again and see it work on my device. I have participated in the Nokia Ambassador widset campaign and during the entire campaign my goal was to get it working on my N95, with all possible combinations, retractions, additions, subtractions and removals I have not been able to make my widset pet work on my handset :( I had much fun while participating and did not give up, despite the fact that campaign is now over I still, from time to time try to install widset pet and see if it will finally work on my phone. So back to email.....Nokia I am not going to abandon you yet...keep improving services and devices and I will be a happy camper for long time to come.
Late last week the news of Nokia 'native' push for the non business part of the world came to light. Nokia Email service beta provides push experience from email providers like gmail, should work with yahoo, does not work with hotmail...hopefully yet. I have installed this app on Thurs last week and it turned out to be a mega headache. The phone gave me numerous error messages, it would crash and the overall performance was so slow that I ended up removing it from my phone about four different times. Most annoying thing of all was that the app DID NOT actually work once installed. With trying just about anything I could think of, adjusting settings, making sure that all the info and passwords are correct. I decided to yet again uninstall the app and let it rest. Come Saturday I had enough patience and curiosity in me again to start exploring the app. I installed it again (thinking that it would be the last time if it's still not working) and here it was, in all it's glory of very nice UI and doing what it's designed to do, meaning push email on my handset. It has worked very nicely since, not one crash and not one freeze up moment. At doing email this new app works well. You can decide what size attachements you want to use and allow, there is room for changing program options. Again it's not an email client for everyone but it's worth checking out and trying out while its still in the beta phase and it's free.
